God sees the Bigger Picture

Yesterday morning pastor was preaching on Joseph, and he pointed out something that I hadnt ever thought about before.

Genesis 39:2 says: “And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.”

Now if you know the story, you know that at this point Joseph has been kidnapped, sold into slavery, and is still a slave. Not exactly my idea of prosperous. Or good. Or even okay… but God said that Joseph was a prosperous man. Not is going to be, but is right now.

A good friend of mine and I were talking last week about life, and how ours arent exactly turning out how we foresaw or expected. She said “well God’s done it [planned lives] lots of times and this is my first, I guess I’ll go with Him on this one”

Perhaps sometimes we’re in a situation that we cant see as good, or our story isnt going as we planned, but that doesnt mean that God isnt in control, or that He doesnt know what He’s doing. Joseph later on became the second most powerful man in Egypt but he didnt know that was how his life was going to play out when he was still a slave.

God see the bigger picture. Not just today, but eternity. Not just my life or your life but the lives of everyone that ever has or will live. He even names the stars, clothes the flowers, and keeps track of the sparrows…. I guess it’s a pretty safe bet to trust a God that’s going to pay attention to all of eternity.

“Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.”

“This is what the past is for! Every experience God gives us, every person He puts in our lives is the perfect preparation for the future that only He can see.”

“Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.”
